Heading back to RAU from the USA

With the grandchildren at Sea World San Antonio
As Carol and I pack for our departure to RAU on the 21st we look back upon our visit to States with great joy and appreciation. Our time with our biological family in Texas, Iowa, and Tennessee was precious and bonds with our growing number of grandchildren was strengthened. The greatest difficulty and challenge Carol and I face is being so far far away from family. Please pray for us in this.
Physically we have been refreshed and are going back to Africa with more tightly fitting clothes and a number of more pounds for some reason  :-)!
Once again we have so blessed by the Body of Christ and our many dear dear friends! I am sorry we missed seeing many friends and being in some dear churches this trip. Our next trip back, Lord willing, we will be able to be with you the ones we missed this time. For much of our time we did a lot of traveling sharing of our hearts and vision in churches, small groups, and with individuals. The Lord has blessed us with and given us many new friends who are partnering with us in prayer, financial support, and sending of teams to minister with us. As you know, our primary vision is to model 2 Timothy 2:2 . Our primary methodology in walking this out has been our 22 four day retreats at RAU. In many of our retreats we have been blessed with several Bible teachers from the USA who have helped us in this. On this trip several new commitments from pastors were made.
Also, providentially, Reaching and Teaching International  has adopted RAU as a training center with High Pointe Baptist Church Austin,Texas taking the lead in sending teams.  The Reaching and Teaching program involves teams coming three times a year for three years. I will be selecting 30 key leaders to be a part of this program. I rejoice in these partnerships knowing the Body of Christ in our region of the world will be strengthened. To better help facilitate our growing discipleship program I would like to build one larger classroom with an attached study area. The bid we have for this new structure is $25,000. We would appreciate any financial help that can be given to help us in this.
Pastor Tobious and our Metu Mountain preachers are eager for us to return to join them for discipleship and evangelism/church planting in the 40 plus villages in this rugged area which do not have a single church in their midst. We have the opportunity to partner with Water harvest International to drill 10+ wells in the Metu Mountains. It costs $7500 for one well. Funds for one well have been given.
Charles, our lead partner in Yumbe, has informed me that Imams and Sheikhs are eager to continue our dialog’s on the person, Jesus. Charles and I are eager to climb the Land Crusier for open air preaching and showing the “Jesus” film in Aringa in many more Yumbe trading centers.

There are many more things I would love to share with you, but that will have to wait as we have a lot of last minute details and packing to do before we leave Friday the 21st. We are going back with many ministry resources because of you. Thank you all so much for your loving support and prayers! We could not be doing what we are doing without the Lord’s love working through you!

“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 1:3
We were so blessed during our last retreat. RAU hosted 3 wonderful visitors from Texas – Delmar Hager (“Kindle Man”), Dagne Balcha and Otis Fields – who are leaders at High Pointe Baptist  church in Austin.  They did a great overview of the Old Testament in story form.  For many of the pastors/leaders who attended, this was their first thorough “walk” through the Old Testament. They do not have an Old Testament in their language. Pastors in attendance were from Moyo, Metu Mountains, Obongi, Yumbe, Koboko, Maracha and were from several different church groups. We received much feedback on the benefit of this course.  Dagne Balcha took my Wednesday night spot on the radio and gave a stirring message.  On Sunday, we traveled to Arapi to gather with churches from Arapi, Oyo, and Duku, where Delmar and Otis preached the word of God.  It was a beautiful gathering.  They have since returned to Texas and we are soon to follow!
We are making ready for our upcoming visit to the States. We are grateful for our co-workers here who will watch over things while we are gone and faithfully be about the tasks left for them. We arrive in Seguin, Texas on the 24th of August and will have one week there with family and friends. If you live in the Seguin area, we will be with our home church family, Lifegate, Sunday August 28th. We have been given the opportunity to share about the work of RAU and I have the honor to preach. The service begins at 10:30 AM. We would love to see you if you are in the area.
During most of September we will be itinerating throughout the country, visiting various churches, friends, and family and then we will be back to Seguin  and stay there for a good part of October before we head back to Reaching Africa’s Unreached in Afoji, Uganda. Please pray for Carol and me, that we can effectively share God’s gracious work in the West Nile of Uganda. Also pray that our time with family will nurture continuing and lasting bonds in all our hearts. One of the greatest challenge we face is long separations from family. Thank you for your prayers and sacrificial support.

Carol worked very hard to put together a video with a clear message and appeal.  She is disappointed at the final product as the app which she used did not deliver as expected (the pictures came out in varying sizes and the texts were outside the pictures). Still, I believe the video gives a great overview of the ministry activities of Reaching Africa’s Unreached.  Hope you enjoy it!
May our Sovereign Lord Bless You and Keep You!

Texas Trio are here!

Retreat 21

We were blessed to have three brothers, Otis Fields, Dagne Balcha, and Delmar Hager, here with us from High Pointe Baptist Church Austin, Texas. Thirty-one key leaders from various West Nile Uganda locations, (Moyo,Metu Mountains,Obongi,Yumbe,Koboko, and Maracha) with whom we are working, arrived August 10th and were with us through Saturday the 13th. They  received some excellent foundational teaching from our Texas brothers who presented a meta narrative of the Old Testament. What joy to have these faithful men teaching faithful men here who, in turn, will be teaching what they have learned….2 Timothy 2:2 in practice!

Along with the fine teaching from the three Delmar brought with him a good number of Kindle Fires. His ministry, Study To Be Approved, has been sending Kindles through me loaded with solid books  to distribute to pastors for the past three years. Here is affectionately called the “Kindle man“! Only heaven knows the impact these resources have had in the church here in the West Nile of Uganda!

Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
