Sharing God’s Grace Found in Messiah Jesus

Kuru Imams
Making new friends and sharing the gospel of grace

On March 19th we (Charles,Zorah, and I) had great meeting with a group of mostly Imams.Thank you to those who prayed!

You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.”

(2 Corinthians 1:11)

2 Corinthians 1:11 is a verse which often gives Carol and me great comfort and encouragement! Living as missionaries in the midst of a foreign culture, seeking to be a part of strengthening God’s people (2 Timothy 2:2) and making it our ambition to take the gospel to those with little or no access to it (Romans 15:20) would be fruitless without your intercession and support! Without your prayers we might just as well go back to Texas to “piddle around” and enjoy our family and friends in the latter years of our lives. “You” (our fellow ambassadors) “must help” (a necessity) “us” (your co-labors in the faith) “by prayer” (essential to foreign missions as well as all of life) “so that” (connecting words) “many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us” (result of faithful prayer) “through the prayers of many.” (the reason for thanksgiving and blessing).

Prayer is the jet fuel for missions!

The Lord’s presence was with us…we had a little over four hours together. Our meeting began with introductions and then we gave out worm and malaria medicines to everyone along with reading glasses to those who needed them and provided lunch. There were 27 men, most of them were Imams with a few Sheikhs and teachers. They were very hospitable, kind, and respectful. I can confidently say I have made some new friends.

Many received reading glasses

Everyone was given Aringa and Arabic New Testaments, ESV Global Study Bibles, Christian literature, 4 doses of de-worming medicines, and two doses of anti-malarial drugs. They were all very happy to receive each item.

I was given a long time to speak and I took advantage of it. Charles did an excellent job interpreting,co-worker Zorah took many pictures ( we asked and were given permission), and was a great help in distributing items. They listened intently and I could almost see the “wheels spinning” in their minds. It is very likely it was their first time  to hear the gospel of grace proclaimed.

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation (from His wrath and punishment) to everyone who believes (in Christ as Savior), to the Jews first and also to the Greek” Romans 1:16 Amplified Version

Keep praying that the gospel message they heard and are taking home with them (Bibles and Christian literature) will bear fruit and they too will become worshipers of Jesus! They are all wanting to get together again and, Lord willing, we will. Next Saturday (26th) I will be with different group of 25 Imams and Sheikhs that I have met with previously on several occasions.

“Do not think me mad. It is not to make money that I believe a Christian should live. The noblest thing a man can do is, just humbly to receive, and then go amongst others and give.” David Livingstone

It is very exciting and humbling to be part of what the Lord is doing in the midst of this district and with their leaders. I covet your continual prayers for them all and all of us seeking to share the love of Jesus with them.

You all are a part of the gospel reaching these Imams, Sheikhs, and teachers.
God Bless You and Keep You!
